Well, it was a heavy football week. Aaron had his first full week of practice in pads which led up to a scrimmage against an Missouri City Rattlers. The Packers won 16-0. Aaron was moved to left guard due to some personnel changes on the team and he did an awesome job blocking. See the video below for some sample footage. In one instance, he drove the nose tackle into the ground, flat on his back. What a block!
Also, Chris started on the Lamar High School JV squad. He had his first full week of practice, where he worked out at the defensive end position. They had their first game in Texas City on Thursday night. We were not able to make it as it was about 50 miles away and would have been too late for the other kids. While the JV team lost, it was a HUGE learning experience for Chris. His coach even said that if we works hard over the next week, he will see some playing time. Not bad for a kid that has never played American football before. We look forward to his next few games which are at home or closer to home. Chris had a very hectic week with a new school, new classes and classmates and football on top of that. He is doing a GREAT job!
After a very long couple of days getting kids ready for school, we enjoyed some time at the pool for a little rest and relaxation. I think the boys were in awe of Chris’ abilities on the diving board. Here is some video and pictures.
Aaron had his first week of practice in pads this week. He is the starting right tackle for the Greatwood Packers. He has done a great job for this being his first year to play. Here is some video of some of his drills and scrimmage that he did this week.
Chris is here!!! He arrived on Thursday at 1:30pm. The airport was really hectic, the parking was full and it was pouring down rain, but it was worth the wait. After we loaded up, we drove home and introduced Chris to the kids. With all of the emailing they have done, it was as if they knew each other already. Chris and his family sent some gifts from Germany, including books and homemade cookies. They also sent us German football (soccer for you Americans out there) uniforms. Once we get the family all dressed up, we’ll get a picture and post it. We are so excited about Chris being here!
Aaron participated in a Guitar Hero Competition yesterday. There were 24 in the contest, ranging in age from 10 to 17 (Aaron is 10). After hours of grueling competition, Aaron placed 6th! He did an AWESOME job. He rocked out to many famous guitar anthems, such as Welcome to the Jungle, One, LaGrange, and Cliffs of Dover. Check out some video below.
